Submission Guidelines

Here are Lux’s submission guidelines, listed by submission type:

Written Submissions

-Submitted manuscripts must be of letter quality, typed, preferably in 12pt Times New Roman font.
-Prose must be double-spaced with 1-inch margins all around. Send poetry and prose separately. There is no limit on the number of submissions.
-The preferable maximum word count is 7,500 words.
-Submit one copy of a completed electronic submission form with all of the requested information including your name, student ID number or affiliate ID, address, e-mail, and phone number.
-We consider previously published work, but only if the author retains the rights to the work. Please inform us if your submitted work is accepted elsewhere for publication.
-Please note that the editors may, at their discretion, contact the writer to make editorial alterations to the submission.
-There is no submission fee. Published writers will receive two copies of the magazine.
-Please include a 100-200 word bio about yourself for an “About the Author” section.
-Send your written submissions and completed submission form to luxmag@gmail.com as attachments.

Art Submissions

-Artwork may be submitted as slides, prints, photographs, or digital files. (Each .tif or .jpg file must be in CMYK color, at 300 dpi, and at least 2400 pixels in its greatest dimension. These files may be emailed or hand delivered on CD.)
-Please label each slide, print, photograph, or CD with your name and the date, size, and media of your artwork. Emailed submissions must include this information in the body of the email.
-Submit one copy of a completed electronic submission form with all of the requested information including your name, student ID number or affiliate ID, address, e-mail, and phone number.
-We do not consider previously published work. Please inform us if your submitted work is accepted elsewhere for publication.
-Please note that the editors may, at their discretion, contact the artist to make editorial alterations to the submission.
-There is no submission fee. Published artists will receive two copies of the magazine.
-Please include a 100-200 word bio about yourself for an “About the Author” section.

Music Submissions

-One music CD is accepted per performer/ensemble
-Please designate which tracks are being submitted on your music CD.
-Please include contact information with each submission: name of submitter, student ID, email, address, and phone number.
-An image/graphic/picture of the ensemble or performer is preferred, but not required.
-Submit one copy of a completed electronic submission form with all of the requested information including your name, student ID number or affiliate ID, address, e-mail, and phone number.
-We do not consider previously published work. Please inform us if your submitted work is accepted elsewhere for publication.
-Please note that the editors may, at their discretion, contact the musician to make editorial alterations.
-There is no submission fee. Published performers/ensembles will receive two copies of the magazine.
-Please include a 100-200 word bio about yourself for an “About the Author” section.
-Our music editor is more than happy to answer any questions regarding format, length, etc. Send him an email at luxmag@gmail.com.

Where to Submit Your Work

We are currently accepting electronic submissions. To submit electronically, download the file located HERE and fill out the submission form. Be sure to follow the directions at the end of the form.

The submission deadline for the sixth issue is October 15th. The magazine is published annually in the spring. Submissions received after the deadline will be held for the next issue. Response time is within 6-8 weeks of submission. Any questions may be addressed to the editors at luxmag@gmail.com.
